Acid Reflux
Symptoms
Introduction
Welcome to Acid-Reflux-Symptoms.info. As an acid
reflux sufferer myself, I have structured the site to read through from start to finish as a guide on what to do,
beginning with what the symptoms of acid reflux feel like. Having spotted that your symptoms are similar to those of acid reflux sufferers, I would suggest that you go and see your doctor. Your doctor will probably give you medicines
and medications for acid reflux that are commonly
prescribed. For a side-effect free approach, treating acid reflux naturally can be just as effective, and the page on diet for acid reflux illustrates that a different approach to eating can also prove very beneficial. There is also a section of articles
written by doctors and other authority figures on the
subject of acid reflux. I have set up this resource so that others can find information about acid reflux disease, often called GERD (Gastro-Esophogeal Reflux Disease).
What does acid reflux feel
like?
Do you get burning sensations in your
chest or your upper abdomen? Does this pain sometimes radiate
into your back? Does it almost feel like you can't catch your
breath? These general symptoms can feel like heart attack
symptoms and are often the reason that thousands of people
show up in emergency rooms every year with them, only to find
out these symptoms are related to acid reflux.
Does that cup of morning coffee cause you
pain and suffering? Are you frustrated when an evening dinner
out with friends ends in discomfort instead of feeling
relaxed? Do you carry and take antacids every day?
Heartburn - a major symptom of acid
reflux - is a lot more than a mere nuisance. It can
detract from enjoying a good meal and force you to change your
routine. It almost feels like it dictates your every
decision - what you can eat, what you can drink, when you need
to lie down.
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is
the name for chronic acid reflux. What is this vexing problem and how can you get
to feel relief?
Acid reflux is made up of chronic
symptoms and / or mucosal damage that are caused by the
abnormal reflux of stomach contents, namely powerful stomach
acid. When the gastric contents are expelled into the
esophagus, this creates discomfort, pain and possibly lasting
tissue damage.
The most common symptom and complaint of
those suffering from acid reflux is heartburn,
which feels like a burning, stinging or even ripping type of
pain around the breastbone area.
Other Acid Reflux
Symptoms can include:
- Upper abdominal pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Burping
- Discomfort when eating
- Coughing
- Asthma
- Chest Pain
Further symptoms include difficulty
swallowing and changes in mucosal linings of the throat. In
extreme cases sufferers may develop complaints such as
esophageal ulcers or scarring.

What does acid reflux feel
like?
My symptoms of acid reflux make me feel
like I am eating sharp gravel when food hits my
stomach, I often wake up with bad heartburn and feeling
nauseous, and I often get a gravelly heartburn type feeling
after eating spicy foods or drinking wine.
